Eric Mosier, a 37-year-old resident of Galway, New York, has been charged with the sexual exploitation of a child. This announcement was made by United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III and Erin Keegan, Special Agent in Charge of the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Buffalo Field Office.
The criminal complaint alleges that between March 1, 2025, and May 17, 2025, Mosier used a four-year-old child to produce sexually explicit material. The charge is currently an accusation, and Mosier is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III expressed gratitude for the prompt actions of the New York State Police and HSI in leading to Mosier's arrest. He stated his commitment to protecting children from sexual predators.
Erin Keegan highlighted the severe impact on the young victim and reiterated HSI Albany's dedication to pursuing justice alongside state and federal partners.
Mosier appeared before United States Magistrate Daniel J. Stewart and remains detained pending trial. If convicted, he could face a prison sentence ranging from 15 to 30 years, fines up to $250,000, and supervised release from five years to life. Additionally, he may be required to pay restitution and forfeit any devices used in the offense. Upon release from prison after conviction, registration as a sex offender would be mandatory.
The investigation is being conducted by HSI with assistance from the New York State Police and its Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Assistant United States Attorneys Joseph Hartunian and Allen J. Vickey are handling prosecution under Project Safe Childhood.
Project Safe Childhood was initiated by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to coordinate resources at various government levels for addressing child exploitation via the Internet and rescuing victims.
