A Texas man has entered a guilty plea in federal court for stealing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, which are meant to help low-income families afford nutritious food. Adrian Hill, aged 44 from Dallas, Texas, admitted to unlawfully acquiring and using more than $210,600 in SNAP benefits between August 2022 and November 2023.
Hill confessed to selling these benefits to others and also using them personally. The SNAP program, previously known as the Food Stamp Program, is designed to assist qualifying low- and middle-income families with purchasing food.
Charged with Food Stamp Fraud, Hill is scheduled for sentencing on August 29, 2025. He could face up to 20 years in prison. A federal district court judge will decide his sentence based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors.
The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Patrick A. Lemon of the Southern District of Mississippi along with Special Agent in Charge Dax Roberson of the United States Department of Agriculture Office of the Inspector General.
The case is being investigated by the United States Department of Agriculture Office of Inspector General and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimberly T. Purdie.
