The Department of Defense has announced immediate changes to its Personal Property Program, aimed at improving the relocation process for military personnel and their families. This decision comes as part of an effort to address recent issues with the Global Household Goods (GHC) contract.
Sean Parnell, Chief Pentagon Spokesperson and Senior Advisor, emphasized the importance of supporting military members and their families in his statement. "One of our greatest responsibilities is to support our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Guardians, Civilians, and their families who have volunteered to serve their country," he said.
The modifications are in line with Secretary Hegseth's priority to restore trust within the military. Due to recent deficiencies in the GHC contract's performance, Secretary Hegseth has instructed the Commander of U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) to take immediate action.
"The Secretary has been clear: We take our responsibilities to our Servicemembers, families and civilians seriously," Parnell stated. "We are committed to providing the highest quality moving services for our warriors, civilian employees, and their families."
These changes aim to ensure timely movement of household goods during permanent change of station (PCS) moves for service members and civilians throughout 2025 and beyond.
