U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry have seized cocaine valued at over $318,000. The incident took place on May 26 at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge when a 51-year-old male U.S. citizen driving a 2010 Ford F-150 was directed to secondary inspection.
During the inspection, which involved a canine unit and non-intrusive examination methods, officers found 10 packages containing 23.85 pounds of cocaine inside the vehicle. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $318,497.
Port Director Alberto Flores stated, “Thanks to the vigilance and dedication of our CBP officers, another significant seizure of cocaine has been stopped at our border.” He emphasized the agency's role in protecting communities from narcotics.
The driver was arrested, and Homeland Security Investigations special agents are looking into the case. CBP has confiscated both the drugs and the vehicle involved.
