The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has announced the sentencing of Anthony Lynn Brewer, a 67-year-old resident of Warner, Oklahoma. Brewer received a 30-month prison sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm and an additional 12 months for simple possession of methamphetamine. The sentences will run concurrently.
The charges stem from an investigation conducted by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. On May 29, 2024, during a traffic stop, troopers found Brewer with a shotgun and methamphetamine. At that time, he had prior convictions carrying potential imprisonment exceeding one year.
Brewer pleaded guilty to the charges on October 4, 2024. His case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. This initiative was strengthened in May 2021 with a strategy focusing on community trust, support for violence prevention organizations, strategic enforcement priorities, and result measurement.
Chief U.S. District Judge Eric F. Melgren from the District of Kansas presided over the hearing by assignment. Brewer will remain under the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until his transfer to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his non-paroleable sentence.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan E. Soverly represented the United States in this case.
