Eddie Lee Grasty has been sentenced to 72 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm. The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick.

Court documents reveal that Grasty, aged 28, was arrested in March 2024 following an assault on a woman in a St. Paul apartment. During the incident, he allegedly struck the woman multiple times and threatened her with a Glock handgun. Grasty was prohibited from possessing firearms due to previous felony convictions related to violent assaults against women, including stabbing and strangling incidents.

Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick commented on the case: “We know that defendants like Grasty—who habitually abuse and assault women—are some of the most dangerous offenders on the streets.” She added that Grasty's actions over the years have included stabbing, strangling, and terrorizing women.

The sentencing took place in U.S. District Court before Judge Ann D. Montgomery. The investigation leading to this outcome was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) along with the St. Paul Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel W. Bobier represented the government during sentencing proceedings.
