Illinois woman sentenced for diverting prescription drugs

A woman from Colona, Illinois, Cassandra Marie Strube, has been sentenced for diverting prescription drugs from healthcare facilities where she worked as an administrator. Court documents revealed that between September 2021 and November 2022, Strube illegally obtained prescription pills from at least five facilities. The drugs included fentanyl patches, hydrocodone, morphine, and oxycodone, which she stole from emergency kits and locked medication areas.

Strube was sentenced to a three-year probation period. She is required to pay $1,975.61 in restitution along with a $5,000 fine and a $200 special assessment.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa. The investigation was conducted by the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing – Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (DIAL/MFCU).
