U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced a leadership realignment as part of its ongoing efforts to increase operational efficiency. This move comes as the agency reaches a milestone, achieving its highest number of arrests in history.
The organizational changes are intended to support ICE's mission of arresting and deporting criminal illegal aliens, aligning with the directives set by President Trump and addressing public safety concerns.
Ken Genalo, ICE’s Acting Executive Associate Director of Enforcement and Removal Operations, will retire after 33 years of service. He will continue to contribute as a special government employee advising field leadership, allowing him more time with his family. ICE Acting Director Todd M. Lyons acknowledged Genalo's dedication: “Ken Genalo, who’s dedicated more than three decades to ICE and the American people, served as a field office director in New York City before selflessly agreeing to come to ICE Headquarters at the beginning of the Trump administration.”
Robert Hammer, with two decades at Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), will transition into a significant leadership role at ICE headquarters requiring his expertise.
Additional leadership appointments include Marcos Charles as Acting Executive Associate Director of ERO with Mellissa Harper as Deputy. Derek Gordon becomes Acting Executive Associate Director of HSI with William “Bill” Walker as Deputy. Garrett Ripa returns to his role as Field Office Director for ERO Miami, FL. Tatum King is appointed HSI Acting Assistant Director of Domestic Operations; Dawnisha Helland becomes Acting Assistant Director of ERO’s Non-Detained Management Division; Tom Giles takes on the role of Assistant Director for ERO Field Operations; Charles Wall leads the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor; and Susan Cullen Dunbar assumes her position as Executive Associate Director of Management and Administration Directorate.
