U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service is sending resources to aid Canada in its ongoing wildfire crisis. The affected regions include Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Alberta. In response to increased fire activity, the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Center elevated its wildfire preparedness level to 5 on May 29, 2025.

On May 31st, USDA deployed an airtanker to Alberta and is organizing over 150 firefighters and support personnel to join the Canadian efforts. Additionally, the United States is providing equipment such as sprinkler kits, pumps, and hoses.

"We are here to help our neighbors during their time of need," stated Secretary Rollins. "Our Forest Service Wildland Firefighters are the best in the business. I am thankful for the men and women who are bravely stepping up to serve. We pray for their success as they fight fires and save lives."

Despite these international commitments, current fire activity within the United States remains at normal levels. USDA emphasizes that it will maintain operational readiness domestically and retains the option to recall resources if necessary.
