Committee requests Almonty’s data on tungsten supply capability

Chairman John Moolenaar of the House Select Committee on China has reached out to Almonty Industries, Inc. with a request for detailed information regarding their ability and commitment to supply tungsten to the United States. This mineral is vital for U.S. defense, being used in ammunition, aerospace components, and advanced electronics. Currently, there is no domestic production of tungsten in the United States.

The inquiry underscores the strategic importance of reducing reliance on foreign sources, particularly those tied to China. "Tungsten is an essential input in a wide range of defense systems, including armor-piercing munitions, aerospace components, and advanced electronics," said Chairman Moolenaar. He noted that U.S. dependency on Chinese sources poses a risk to national defense capabilities.

The committee's letter seeks information on Almonty's reserves, production capacity, and commercial relationships with Chinese entities. This move aligns with the committee’s goal to challenge China's dominance over critical mineral supply chains and ensure that America's industrial base can support its defense needs.
