A man from Manhattan, Montana, Kevin Andrew Bacon, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for drug-related charges. This was announced by U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme. Bacon, 51, admitted guilt in January 2025 to charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, as well as possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.
The sentencing was overseen by U.S. District Judge Dana L. Christensen. According to court documents, law enforcement began investigating a drug trafficking ring around Butte in June 2022. The operation involved sending drugs through the mail from California to Montana and included several conspirators working out of a residence in Whitehall, MT.
In early January 2023, multiple arrests were made leading to the seizure of approximately 13 pounds of methamphetamine. On February 23, 2023, authorities intercepted a package sent from California addressed to "Kevin Bacon" in Manhattan, MT. Inside the package were found 873.5 grams of methamphetamine.
Bacon collected this package on February 28 at the post office in Manhattan and was subsequently arrested outside the building with it in his possession. During questioning, he mentioned that a friend from Whitehall who dealt methamphetamine had asked him to receive the package at his P.O. Box knowing it contained drugs.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Lowney handled the prosecution of this case which involved investigations by multiple agencies including the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Homeland Security Investigations.
