Dominican national charged with unlawful reentry and drug distribution

A Dominican man, Robely Eladio De Jesus Guerrero, has been arrested on charges related to immigration violations and drug distribution. Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack announced the arrest of the 37-year-old who was residing unlawfully in Massachusetts. He faces charges for unlawful reentry into the United States and for distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl.

De Jesus Guerrero appeared in federal court where he was detained pending his next hearing scheduled for June 20, 2025. According to court documents, he had previously been deported to the Dominican Republic in November 2021 but was encountered again by law enforcement in New Hampshire during August and September of 2024.

During this period, De Jesus Guerrero allegedly distributed around 120 grams of fentanyl and one pound of methamphetamine. The charges could lead to a sentence of up to 20 years' incarceration, with at least three years of supervised release, and fines reaching $1 million. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge following U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.

The Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew T. Hunter is prosecuting the case.

This arrest is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations.

It is important to note that all details mentioned in the charging documents are allegations at this stage. De Jesus Guerrero is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
