Steven Scott Gordon, a 53-year-old resident of Curtice, Ohio, has been charged with the production of child pornography. This development was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson following a superseding indictment.
Court documents reveal that Gordon allegedly posed online as a 20-year-old woman to distribute erotica concerning the sexual abuse of children. He is accused of encouraging and directing a man in Minnesota to create images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of a child in that state.
The FBI in Ohio seized Gordon's electronic devices during their investigation. These devices reportedly contained Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), including material produced by the Minnesota man and transmitted to Gordon.
"Child sexual predators are among the dangerous of criminal defendants," stated Acting United States Attorney Joseph H. Thompson. "Anyone who victimizes and sexually abuses Minnesota children should be prepared to serve decades in federal prison."
Special Agent in Charge Alvin M. Winston Sr., from FBI Minneapolis, emphasized the agency's commitment to protecting children: "Every child deserves a safe and innocent childhood," he said. "Gordon’s heinous actions shattered that innocence and caused unimaginable harm. Protecting children and holding vile predators accountable is one of the FBI’s highest priorities."
Gordon appeared for arraignment on May 21, 2025, before Magistrate Judge David T. Schultz at U.S. District Court, where he was ordered to remain in custody pending further proceedings.
The case stems from an investigation conducted by the FBI alongside the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and Rosemount Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney William C. Mattessich is leading the prosecution against Gordon.
It is important to note that an indictment is merely an allegation; Gordon remains presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
