U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Houston, in collaboration with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office and the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, executed a search warrant on June 3 in Galveston, Texas. This operation led to the arrest of three individuals for their alleged involvement with child sexual abuse materials.
During the search, Edgar Javier Escobedo Castillo, an 18-year-old from Mexico residing illegally in the United States, was arrested on criminal charges related to possession of child sexual abuse material. Two other individuals, Javier Escobedo Rangel and Nieves Castillo Guzman, both 49 years old and also from Mexico residing illegally in the U.S., were detained for administrative immigration violations.
This operation is part of an ongoing investigation into child exploitation by HSI Houston's Galveston office and the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation commenced following a tip-off from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding suspicious online activities linked to social media accounts associated with Escobedo Javier.
