A Starkville, Mississippi resident, Michael Anthony Doss, was sentenced to over six years in prison for illegal firearm possession and drug trafficking. According to court documents, Doss pled guilty in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi. He was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and trafficking methamphetamine. U.S. District Court Judge Debra M. Brown sentenced him to 78 months in prison and an additional three years of supervised release following his incarceration.
U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner stated, "Drug dealers and guns are a lethal combination, and I am extremely proud of the work done by our state and local partners and ATF to bring this defendant to justice and protect our communities."
Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell added, "This sentence sends a clear message that drug trafficking and gun violence will not be tolerated in Mississippi. I’m proud of the collaborative efforts of our local, state, and federal partners who worked tirelessly to bring this individual to justice. Together, we are making our communities safer."
The case was investigated by several agencies including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Clyde McGee prosecuted the case.
