U.S. Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer has issued a statement regarding the May 2025 Employment Situation Report. The report indicates that 139,000 jobs were created in May, marking the third consecutive month where job creation exceeded expectations.
Chavez-DeRemer stated, "Today’s jobs report demonstrates yet again that we are making a remarkable economic comeback." She attributed this progress to President Trump's policies, noting that since his administration began, a total of 508,000 jobs have been added.
"For too long, burdensome regulations and failed policies sold out blue-collar workers and shipped mortgage-paying jobs overseas," she said. Chavez-DeRemer emphasized that all job gains have been among native-born workers.
She also expressed her commitment to collaborating with President Trump to strengthen the workforce and revive the American Dream. To further enhance economic opportunities for workers, Chavez-DeRemer highlighted the need for what she called "the One Big Beautiful Bill," which aims to eliminate taxes on tips and provide substantial tax cuts for working-class Americans.
