On June 4, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Buffalo arrested Ho Kai Tam, a twice-convicted Chinese national who is also a registered sex offender, for being illegally present in the United States despite having a final order of removal.
Tam, also known as Raymond Tam, was apprehended by personnel from ICE HSI and U.S. Border Patrol in Williamsville, New York. Tam is a 42-year-old citizen of Hong Kong who initially entered the U.S. as a lawful permanent resident on or about July 2, 1996.
While residing illegally in the United States, Tam was arrested in January 2003 and subsequently convicted of mail fraud for an offense that occurred in Buffalo, New York. He faced another arrest in February 2010 and was ultimately convicted of sexual misconduct for an incident that took place in Tonawanda, New York.
An immigration judge issued a final removal order for Tam on July 11, 2005. Following his recent arrest, he has been transported to the Batavia Federal Detention Facility where he will remain in ICE custody.
