Harrison County man pleads guilty to methamphetamine distribution conspiracy

James Leonard Bailey, III, a 41-year-old resident of Stonewood, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine. The charge involves five grams or more of the substance.

Court documents reveal that Bailey was discovered with 32 grams of methamphetamine and a firearm in Harrison County. As a result of his plea, Bailey is facing a prison sentence ranging from five to 40 years. The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge who will take into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines along with other statutory factors.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Christie Utt is leading the prosecution for this case. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives alongside the Stonewood Police Department.

The proceedings were overseen by U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi.
