The United States has expressed strong disapproval of the sanctions imposed by the governments of the United Kingdom, Canada, Norway, New Zealand, and Australia on two current members of the Israeli cabinet. The U.S. government stated that these actions do not support its efforts to achieve a ceasefire, secure the release of hostages, and end ongoing conflict.
In a statement, U.S. officials emphasized their stance against any "notion of equivalence," highlighting that "Hamas is a terrorist organization that committed unspeakable atrocities, continues to hold innocent civilians hostage, and prevents the people of Gaza from living in peace." The statement further urged partner nations to remember "who the real enemy is."
The United States called for the reversal of these sanctions and reiterated its solidarity with Israel.
