Delaware resident indicted for false statements in passport application

A Wilmington, Delaware resident has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh. The charges include making false statements in a passport application and aggravated identity theft, as announced by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

The indictment identifies Alexis Morgan Young, also known as Omar Core, aged 43, as the sole defendant. According to the indictment, Young allegedly used another person's identification to apply for a U.S. passport in 2024.

If convicted on count one, Young faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000. Count two carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 24 months incarceration plus a fine of $250,000. The Federal Sentencing Guidelines will determine the actual sentence based on the offense's seriousness and any prior criminal history.

Assistant United States Attorney Gregory C. Melucci is prosecuting the case for the government. The investigation leading to the indictment was conducted by the Diplomatic Security Service.

It is important to note that an indictment is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
