Sergio Herran, a 47-year-old resident of Tucson, Arizona, has been sentenced to eight years in prison on charges related to child pornography. The sentencing was handed down by Senior United States District Judge Raner C. Collins on June 17, 2025. Herran's sentence includes a concurrent five-year term and lifetime supervision upon release. He is also required to register as a sex offender and pay restitution to the victims identified in the case.

Herran's conviction follows a four-day trial in March where he was found guilty of distributing and possessing child pornography. The evidence presented during the retrial showed that Herran had downloaded, viewed, and shared images and videos of child pornography. These materials were discovered on various devices within his bedroom, including his computer hard drive, phone SD card, and tablet. In total, authorities found over 10,000 images and 1,500 videos of child pornography on these devices.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations’ Tucson Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit. The prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sandra M. Hansen and Anshul Krishn from the District of Arizona.

Herran had previously been tried and convicted in 2019; however, this conviction was overturned on appeal by the Ninth Circuit Court.
