US sanctions entities over sensitive machinery procurement for Iran

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

The United States has imposed sanctions on eight entities, one individual, and identified a vessel as blocked property for their involvement in procuring sensitive machinery from China for Iran's defense industry. These entities and individuals were involved in the shipment of machinery to the U.S.-designated Rayan Roshd Afzar Company (RRA) and Towse Sanaye Nim Resanaye Tarashe, a company controlled by RRA executives.

This action is part of President Trump's National Security Presidential Memorandum-2, which aims to apply maximum pressure on Iran. The objective is to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons and intercontinental ballistic missile capabilities. It also seeks to disrupt the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from generating revenue for destabilizing activities.

The United States remains committed to exposing and disrupting Iran's efforts to procure equipment supporting its nuclear, UAV, and ballistic missile programs or other proliferation-related activities that destabilize the Middle East and beyond.

The Department of the Treasury executed this action under Executive Order 13382, targeting proliferators of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their supporters.
