The Department of Defense (DoD) has appointed Army Maj. Gen. Lance Curtis to lead the newly established Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Joint Task Force (JTF). This task force is tasked with making immediate improvements to the DoD Personal Property Program.
In a recent development, the DoD terminated its contract with HomeSafe Alliance LLC, citing the contractor's inability to meet obligations and deliver quality moving services for service members.
To address issues during the current peak season, household goods moves are now being managed through the legacy "Tender of Service" system. This measure aims to ensure smooth relocations for personnel and their families. Additionally, those opting for Personally Procured Moves (PPMs) will receive reimbursement at an increased rate.
The JTF is actively reviewing the PCS process to identify further actions that can enhance the moving experience. By September 2025, it must provide a strategic plan for ongoing relocation reforms and propose options for long-term mission reform.
Resources and information about conducting moves through the Tender of Service program are available on Military OneSource's Moving Your Personal Property page at https://www.militaryonesource.mil/moving-pcs/moving-personal-property.
