Convicted child rapist evades ICE with help from activists

After an incident involving anti-ICE activists in Colorado, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a warning to the public regarding Jose Reyes Leon-Deras, a convicted child rapist and criminal illegal alien. The individual is currently evading law enforcement.

On June 20, 2025, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) attempted to apprehend Leon-Deras. Members of the Colorado Rapid Response Network intervened by alerting him of ICE's presence, enabling his escape. The network is recognized for its efforts to protest against ICE operations by using bullhorns and shouting at officers attempting to detain criminal illegal aliens.

Leon-Deras remains at large and is considered a threat to public safety. "The Colorado Rapid Response Network and its 760 members disrupt ICE operations targeting dangerous criminal illegal aliens," stated DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. "In this case, they helped Jose Reyes Leon-Deras, an international fugitive and convicted child rapist, flee law enforcement—this dangerous monster is on the loose on American streets and could harm more innocent children."

The DHS urges anyone with information about Leon-Deras' whereabouts to report sightings via the toll-free ICE tip line at 866-347-2423. They advise against approaching him directly due to his dangerous nature.

For those wishing to provide anonymous tips regarding Leon-Deras' location, there is an online form available alongside the phone hotline mentioned above.
