The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced the agenda for its upcoming workshop on July 9, 2025, which will focus on "The Dangers of 'Gender-Affirming Care' for Minors." The event will feature a range of speakers including FTC Chairman Andrew N. Ferguson, FTC Commissioner Melissa Holyoak, psychiatrist Dr. Miriam Grossman, endocrinologist Dr. Michael Laidlaw, and parent advocate Erin Friday. Participants such as doctors, medical ethicists, whistleblowers, detransitioners, and parents of detransitioners will share insights based on research and personal experiences.
This workshop is organized under Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act, which authorizes the FTC to protect consumers from unfair or deceptive acts or practices. The aim is to determine if consumers have been misled by claims regarding "gender-affirming care" and to assess any potential harms they may have experienced.
Scheduled to start at 9:00 am ET at the FTC’s Constitution Center building in Washington, D.C., attendance at the event will be by invitation only for safety reasons. Interested members of the public or press can express their interest via email at healthcareworkshop@ftc.gov.
A live webcast of the workshop will be available on FTC.gov without requiring registration.
