New York man pleads guilty to child exploitation charge

A New York resident has admitted guilt in a federal court regarding charges of child sexual exploitation, as announced by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti. Kyle Thomas Samsel, aged 35 from Auburn, entered a guilty plea to one count before United States District Judge Susan Paradise Baxter.

The court was informed that Samsel had traveled across several states in October 2020 with the intent of engaging in illegal sexual activities with a minor. Sentencing is scheduled for November 13, 2025. The potential maximum sentence includes up to 30 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000. The actual sentence will depend on the severity of the crime and Samsel's prior criminal record.

Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold is leading the prosecution for this case. The investigation was carried out by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Pennsylvania State Police, City of Cleveland Division of Police, and Webster Police Department.

This case falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide. This program combines resources from various levels of law enforcement to pursue individuals who exploit children and aid victims.
