Davon Cunningham, Roosevelt Richardson, and Arnez Mack were sentenced in U.S. District Court for their involvement in a drug trafficking operation in the Trinidad neighborhood of Northeast Washington. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the sentences: Cunningham received 126 months, Richardson 66 months, and Mack one year and a day.
Chief Judge James E. Boasberg also imposed supervised release periods for each defendant. The organization sold approximately 468 kilograms of fentanyl, fentanyl analogue, and cocaine base around the 1100 block of Raum Street, NE.
Law enforcement documented daily hand-to-hand narcotics transactions by the group from June 2023 through March 2024. Controlled purchases were made during this period by confidential informants (CIs) and undercover officers (UCs).
Cunningham, known as "Tank" or "Kevin," sold significant quantities of drugs to law enforcement between October 2023 and February 2024 and also sold a firearm to an undercover officer.
Richardson conducted ten direct sales to law enforcement within the same timeframe. A search at their stash house on the 1600 block of 11th Street, NE revealed firearms linked to Richardson through DNA testing.
Mack admitted his role in distributing narcotics with the group. On December 20, 2023, he was found with a .45 caliber Glock handgun and eight grams of cocaine base after being approached by an MPD officer.
This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation aimed at dismantling high-level criminal networks using a multi-agency approach involving federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
The investigation involved collaboration between the DEA’s Washington Division, MPD's Narcotics Enforcement Unit within its Violent Crime Suppression Division, and FBI Washington Field Office’s Violent Crimes Task Force.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Nihar Mohanty and Daniel Seidel are prosecuting the case with assistance from Criminal Division Trial Attorneys Christina Taylor and Gaelin Bernstein.
