A New Orleans man, Cardell Glover, has been sentenced to 96 months in prison after pleading guilty to federal gun charges. Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced the sentence, which was handed down by United States District Judge Darrel J. Papillion on June 17, 2025.
Glover, aged 24, faced a three-count indictment including charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a machine gun. Each count carries an eight-year sentence to be served concurrently. In addition to the prison term, Glover will serve three years of supervised release and pay a $300 mandatory special assessment fee.
The charges stem from an incident on July 9, 2024, when a rideshare driver reported her Glock Model 19 Gen 5 pistol stolen after giving a ride to two passengers. The weapon was later found with Glover and had been modified with a machine gun conversion device.
Glover admitted guilt to all charges and acknowledged stealing the firearm equipped as defined by the National Firearms Act.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), aiming to reduce violent crime and enhance community safety through collaborative efforts among law enforcement agencies and community organizations.
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended the efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Department in this case, prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Sarah Dawkins from the Violent Crime Unit.
