East Conemaugh man sentenced to over a decade for drug trafficking

A man from East Conemaugh, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 11.5 years in federal prison for methamphetamine trafficking and unlawful firearm possession. Kari Ameen Wheeler, aged 38, received the sentence from United States District Judge Stephanie L. Haines. Following his prison term, Wheeler will undergo five years of supervised release.

The court was informed that on August 21, 2024, Wheeler distributed and intended to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine in the Western District of Pennsylvania. Additionally, on August 23, 2024, he possessed two firearms and ammunition despite a prior felony conviction. Federal law prohibits felons from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Assistant United States Attorney Arnold P. Bernard Jr. represented the government in this case. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti praised the efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Task Force and Cambria County Drug Task Force for their roles in investigating and prosecuting Wheeler successfully.
