Jonathan Woody, a 31-year-old resident of Rochester, New York, has pleaded guilty to coercion and enticement of a minor. The plea was announced by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo and took place before U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa. The charge carries significant penalties, including a minimum of 10 years in prison, up to life imprisonment, and a $250,000 fine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle P. Rossi provided details on the case, revealing that in January 2024, Woody engaged in sexually explicit communications with a 13-year-old he met on social media. On January 2, 2024, Woody arranged for an Uber to bring the child to a hotel in Greece, New York, where he had rented a room. At the hotel, Woody supplied alcohol and marijuana to the minor and engaged in sexual acts.
The child's family reported them missing when they discovered their absence from home and called 911. The child eventually returned home, leading law enforcement to uncover Woody's involvement through subsequent investigations that led to his arrest.
The investigation was conducted by several agencies: the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff Todd Baxter's direction; the Greece Police Department led by Chief Michael Wood; and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation Task Force directed by Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Mark Grimm.
Sentencing is set for October 30, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., before Judge Siragusa.
