ICE Acting Director Todd M. Lyons has expressed strong disapproval of CNN's promotion of an 'ICE spotting' app, labeling it as "reckless and irresponsible." Lyons voiced his concerns over the app's potential to endanger federal law enforcement officers by making their locations public.
Lyons highlighted the increase in assaults faced by ICE officers and agents, stating that there has been a 500% rise in such incidents. He criticized CNN for announcing the app on live television, suggesting that it could incite violence against officers. "Advertising an app that basically paints a target on federal law enforcement officers’ backs is sickening," Lyons remarked.
The acting director also accused CNN of potentially aiding dangerous criminal aliens in evading U.S. law through this promotion. He questioned whether CNN's actions were a form of reckless journalism or overt activism.
