A Baltimore man, Freddie Anthony Curry, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possessing with intent to distribute large quantities of fentanyl and cocaine. The sentencing was delivered by Judge Matthew J. Maddox. U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes announced the decision alongside Acting Special Agent in Charge Amanda M. Koldjeski from the FBI's Baltimore Field Office and Special Agent in Charge Ibrar A. Mian from the DEA's Washington Division.

The investigation into Curry began in May 2024, when the FBI and DEA suspected him of trafficking fentanyl and cocaine in Baltimore. Federal search warrants were executed on his residence and vehicle, leading to the discovery of approximately 980 grams of fentanyl, 1,040 grams of cocaine, digital scales, drug-packaging materials, and a Glock 19 handgun. Due to prior felony convictions, Curry is prohibited from possessing firearms.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy on May 26, 2021, which strengthened PSN by focusing on community trust, supporting prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring results.

Additionally, this case falls under the Strike Force Initiative that establishes multi-agency task force teams working together to combat significant drug traffickers and criminal organizations. The Baltimore Strike Force aims to dismantle violent drug trafficking networks within the region.

U.S. Attorney Hayes commended the efforts of the FBI and DEA during the investigation and thanked Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Simpkins for prosecuting the case.
