The G7 Foreign Ministers, alongside the High Representative of the European Union, have issued a joint statement concerning recent developments in the Middle East. This announcement follows their meeting in The Hague on June 25, 2025.
The ministers emphasized their backing for the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, as announced by U.S. President Trump. They called on all parties to refrain from actions that could lead to further instability in the region.
Acknowledging Qatar's significant contribution to facilitating this ceasefire, they expressed solidarity with both Qatar and Iraq following recent strikes by Iran and its affiliates against these territories. Efforts towards stabilization and de-escalation within the region were welcomed.
The statement reinforced that "the Islamic Republic of Iran can never have nuclear weapons," urging Iran to halt any unjustified enrichment activities. It called for negotiations leading to a comprehensive agreement addressing Iran’s nuclear program.
For a sustainable resolution, Iran was urged to resume full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) according to its safeguards obligations and provide verifiable information about all nuclear material within its borders. The ministers condemned calls in Iran for actions against IAEA Director General Grossi.
Highlighting the importance of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), they stressed that it remains essential for global nuclear non-proliferation efforts. The ministers underscored their commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East, reaffirming Israel's right to self-defense and their support for Israel's security.
