Guatemalan national sentenced for illegal reentry; deportation pending

The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has reported that Erikx Soto-Gomez, a 41-year-old Guatemalan citizen, was sentenced to time served—75 days in prison—for illegal reentry into the United States. The sentencing was handed down by United States District Court Judge Julia K. Munley.

Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that Soto-Gomez was indicted by a federal grand jury following his arrest for Driving Under the Influence in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, on April 10, 2025. Previously deported in 2012, Soto-Gomez pleaded guilty to illegal reentry before being sentenced.

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Francis P. Sempa and Tatum Wilson prosecuting the case.

This legal action is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative designed to combat illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while safeguarding communities from violent crime. The operation consolidates resources from various Department of Justice programs including the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

Soto-Gomez is still facing state charges in Lebanon County and remains subject to an ICE detainer for deportation proceedings.
