Cocaine worth $668K seized by CBP at Hidalgo bridge

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Hidalgo International Bridge intercepted over $668,000 worth of cocaine concealed in a vehicle. The incident occurred on June 27 when a white Ford SUV attempted to enter the U.S. from Mexico.

Port Director Carlos Rodriguez of the Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry stated, “CBP officers work tirelessly to keep harmful narcotics off our streets. Seizures like these exemplify CBP’s continued commitment to upholding our border security mission.”

The inspection involved nonintrusive equipment and a canine team, leading to the discovery of 20 packages of alleged cocaine weighing 50.08 pounds (22.72 kg). The street value of the narcotics is estimated at $668,700.

The CBP Office of Field Operations seized both the narcotics and the vehicle, while Homeland Security Investigations arrested the driver and began a criminal investigation.
