A woman from Milam, Texas, has been sentenced to federal prison and ordered to pay restitution after being found guilty of stealing from her employer. The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Haley Maxine Snodgrass, aged 29, pleaded guilty to charges of credit union theft. On July 1, 2025, U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone sentenced her to 33 months in federal prison and mandated restitution payments amounting to $330,351.39.
Court documents revealed that in April 2023, an auditor from Doches Credit Union identified discrepancies during a review of loans at the Hemphill branch where Snodgrass worked. Employed by the credit union since 2016, she had advanced from teller to branch manager.
An investigation conducted by a third party discovered that Snodgrass employed various schemes for personal financial gain. These included creating fraudulent loans, refinancing legitimate loans without consent, misappropriating loan payments, and conducting unauthorized transactions on member accounts.
As part of her plea agreement, Snodgrass admitted to embezzling approximately $281,097.97 from Doches Credit Union with intent to defraud the institution and acknowledged the total restitution owed as $330,351.39.
The case was investigated by the FBI’s Lufkin Field Office along with the Texas Department of Public Safety and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren Gaston.
