A Jamestown man, Raymond Medina, 19, has been sentenced to 48 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo and delivered by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.
The case was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Donna M. Duncan, who detailed the events leading to Medina's arrest. On February 28, 2024, Jamestown Police responded to a domestic incident at a residence where there was an active order of protection against Medina. Upon arrival, officers saw Medina leaving the scene and made contact with him.
Medina became argumentative and resisted detention, yelling “I don't got nothing bro,” while appearing to reach towards his waistband before fleeing on foot. Despite attempts to detain him using a taser, officers were unsuccessful initially. However, a perimeter was established, and with the help of footprints in the snow and a K-9 unit, Medina was found hiding behind a shed and taken into custody without further incident.
During the pursuit route of Medina's flight, officers recovered suspected methamphetamine packaged for individual sale.
The investigation involved efforts from both the Jamestown Police Department under Chief Timothy Jackson and the Drug Enforcement Administration led by Special Agent-in-Charge Frank A. Tarentino III of the New York Field Division.
