Bristol woman pleads guilty to perjury over false testimony

Zachary T. Lee Acting United States Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia

A Bristol, Virginia resident has admitted to lying under oath during a federal court hearing related to her boyfriend's supervised release revocation. Blaklee Buchanan, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of making false material declarations under oath in the United States District Court in Abingdon.

The charges stem from an incident on June 13, 2023, when Buchanan testified as a witness in the case of United States v. Bradford Loudy. During the hearing, she was questioned about events on March 23, 2023. When asked if Loudy had physically assaulted her on that date, Buchanan denied it multiple times. Her statements were contradicted by at least two other witnesses who testified that they saw Loudy assault her.

Despite being asked directly if Loudy had hit her with a sandal or assaulted her in various ways, Buchanan consistently responded negatively. She also claimed that other witnesses fabricated their accounts of the incident: "Yes. I have no clue who they are. He doesn’t beat me. He did not beat me."

Acting United States Attorney Zachary T. Lee announced the guilty plea and stated that Buchanan could face up to five years in prison at her sentencing scheduled for October 28, 2025.

Assistant United States Attorney Danielle Stone is handling the prosecution for this case.
