A Cedar Rapids man has been sentenced to four years in federal prison for distributing pills containing fentanyl. Antonio Clarence Robertson, 33, received the sentence on June 30, 2025, following his guilty plea on January 16, 2025, to possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
The case against Robertson was built on evidence presented during plea and sentencing hearings. On December 21, 2023, officers from the Cedar Rapids Police Department stopped a vehicle where Robertson was a passenger. During the stop, officers noticed him tucking an object under himself and ordered him out of the vehicle. After he refused, officers removed him and found an unlabeled pill bottle at his seat containing fentanyl pills. A search of Robertson revealed multiple plastic bags with additional pills.
In total, officers seized 227 fentanyl-containing pills as a result of the traffic stop. Prior to this incident, officers reportedly observed Robertson selling narcotics to another individual. The following day, December 22, 2023, Robertson met with investigators and admitted to selling fentanyl.
