Timothy T. Duax U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa
A Birmingham, Alabama man, Chrishawn Lloyd Stuckey, was sentenced to two years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a felon. The sentence follows his guilty plea on February 7, 2025.
The court heard that Stuckey was intoxicated at a Wal-Mart in Waterloo, Iowa. After leaving the store, he drove erratically and refused to stop when approached by law enforcement. He attempted to flee onto a highway on-ramp but was stopped by officers using a car maneuver. Stuckey then reversed into a squad car, causing damage. A loaded stolen firearm was found in his vehicle. Stuckey has previous felony convictions for trafficking in stolen weapons and possession of a firearm by a felon.
United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams sentenced Stuckey in Cedar Rapids to 24 months’ imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement and communities. The Department launched an enhanced violent crime reduction strategy on May 26, 2021, focusing on trust-building, community support, strategic enforcement priorities, and result measurement.
Stuckey remains in United States Marshal’s custody until his transfer to federal prison.
Assistant United States Attorney Devra T. Hake prosecuted the case with investigations conducted by the Waterloo Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
