CBP officers in Buffalo recently intercepted a male U.S. citizen driving a vehicle with New York plates. The driver attempted to evade inspection at the Peace Bridge by making a U-turn. Officers engaged with the vehicle and discovered a loaded firearm, leading to further inspection.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the firearm had been reported stolen from Tarpon Springs, Florida, according to the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).

“Our officers continue to remain dedicated and vigilant, enforcement focused, and committed to ensuring the safety of our community,” stated Acting Port Director Sharon Swiatek. “I’m proud of their efforts to remove stolen weapons from our streets, potentially preventing any number of dangerous situations.”

Following the confirmation of the weapon's status as stolen, authorities handed over the driver to the Buffalo Police Department on charges of criminal possession of a loaded firearm.

It is important to note that criminal charges are allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) describes itself as America's frontline: "the nation's largest law enforcement organization and the world's first unified border management agency." The agency's workforce exceeds 65,000 individuals who protect America across various domains while facilitating lawful travel and trade.
