Benjamin Hernandez Torres was found guilty of multiple counts of sexual abuse against his former girlfriend's child. The announcement came from U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department.

The jury delivered the verdict on July 1, 2025, following a multi-day trial in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Sentencing is set for September 26, 2025, by Judge Danya Dayson.

Evidence presented during the trial revealed that between 2010 and 2014, Torres sexually abused the victim multiple times when she was between five and eight years old. The victim disclosed these incidents about ten years later after seeing a photo of Torres at her house.

Torres faces a maximum statutory sentence of life without release for first-degree child sexual abuse charges and fifteen years for each second-degree charge. If released, he must register as a sex offender for life.

The Metropolitan Police Department conducted the investigation, while Assistant U.S. Attorneys Raha Mokhtari and Sarah Roessler prosecuted the case.
