Acting United States Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook has announced that a former deputy of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office is facing charges related to child pornography. A grand jury in the Western District of Louisiana indicted Joshua Uhlman, 36, from Pine Prairie, Louisiana. The charges include two counts of production and one count of receipt of child pornography.
The indictment accuses Uhlman of attempting to engage two minors in sexually explicit conduct between September 2024 and February 2, 2025. This was allegedly done with the intent to produce visual depictions for transmission via interstate commerce.
Additionally, Uhlman is charged with knowingly receiving child pornography during the same period using various means affecting interstate and foreign commerce.
If found guilty, Uhlman could face a minimum sentence of 15 years and up to 30 years for each count related to production. For the receipt charge, he faces a minimum of 5 years and up to 20 years. He may also be subject to three years of supervised release and a fine reaching $250,000.
It is important to note that an indictment is merely an accusation. The defendant remains presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation while Assistant United States Attorney Craig R. Bordelon II leads the prosecution.
