Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem issued a statement today regarding President Donald J. Trump's signing of the One Big Beautiful Bill (BBB) Act into law. This legislation secures $165 billion in appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), aiming to fulfill the President's mandate to arrest and deport criminal illegal aliens.
“President Trump’s signing the One Big Beautiful Bill is a win for law and order and the safety and security of the American people,” stated Secretary Kristi Noem. “This $165 billion in funding will help the Department of Homeland Security and our brave law enforcement further deliver on President Trump’s mandate to arrest and deport criminal illegal aliens and MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN!”
Secretary Noem highlighted several national security measures included in the BBB. The bill allocates $46.5 billion for border wall construction, $14.4 billion for removal transportation, and $12 billion in reimbursements for states opposing previous administration policies. Additionally, it provides $4.1 billion to hire 6,000 new personnel for Customs and Border Protection (CBP), including customs officers and Border Patrol agents.
The legislation also dedicates funds to technology advancements with $3.2 billion earmarked for new technology initiatives and $2.7 billion for enhanced border surveillance systems. An expansion of CBP's vehicle fleet will receive $855 million.
ICE will benefit from provisions allowing for 10,000 new agent hires, potentially increasing deportation rates up to one million per year. ICE's current workforce includes 20,000 personnel across 400 offices nationwide. The BBB ensures detention capacity for an average daily population of 100,000 illegal aliens by securing 80,000 new beds.
Moreover, the bill fully funds ICE’s 287(g) program which enables state and local law enforcement collaboration with federal immigration officers. It also grants a $10,000 bonus over four years to ICE and Border Patrol agents.
The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) will see enhancements through allocations such as $14.1 billion for cutters, $3.7 billion for aircraft, and $6 billion dedicated to infrastructure improvements.
