A Mexican national, Jose Luz Rojas-Flores, has been sentenced to time served of 73 days in prison for illegal reentry into the United States. Following his sentence, he will be handed over to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, as announced by U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme.

Rojas-Flores, aged 35, entered a guilty plea in May 2025 to the charge of illegal reentry. The sentencing was overseen by Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris.

Court documents reveal that Rojas-Flores was initially deported from the United States in April 2012. He faced removal again in November 2013 after serving a 30-day sentence for illegal entry and once more in April 2015 following a 60-day sentence for the same offense.

On April 26, 2025, during a traffic stop by the Havre Police Department involving five individuals who did not speak English and carried Mexican identification documents, Rojas-Flores presented a Mexican Voter Identification card but lacked documentation allowing him legal entry or stay in the country. He later admitted to crossing into the United States near El Paso, Texas, in January 2020.

The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office with investigative efforts from both the U.S. Border Patrol and Havre Police Department.

This legal action is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs) while safeguarding communities against violent crime perpetrators. This operation integrates resources from various departments including Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
