Cedar Rapids man sentenced for mailing thousands of fentanyl pills

Timothy T. Duax U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa

A Cedar Rapids resident, Anthony Chan Dixon, was sentenced to over eight years in federal prison on July 7, 2025. Dixon, aged 35, had previously pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance on January 21, 2025.

During the sentencing hearing, it was revealed that Dixon relocated from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Phoenix, Arizona before 2022. From there, he began shipping packages containing hundreds of fentanyl pills back to Cedar Rapids starting in 2022 and continuing through September 2023. The total number of pills sent by Dixon amounted to at least 4,500.

Dixon's criminal history includes two prior felony drug convictions. His recent sentence was handed down by United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams in Cedar Rapids. Alongside his imprisonment for 106 months, Dixon is required to complete a three-year term of supervised release following his prison sentence. The federal system does not allow for parole.

Currently held in the custody of the United States Marshal’s Service, Dixon will remain there until he is transferred to a federal prison facility.
