A Washington, D.C. resident has been found guilty of multiple felony charges, including first-degree child sexual abuse, second-degree child sexual abuse, and incest. The verdict was announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro after a jury trial in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
The defendant, aged 33, was accused of sexually abusing his 12-year-old daughter between April and May 2023. Sentencing is scheduled for October 10, 2025, with the possibility of a life sentence.
Evidence presented during the trial included an incident on May 27, 2023. The victim spent Memorial Day weekend with her father and his girlfriend. On May 28, the girlfriend discovered the defendant's hand inside the victim's pants while they were in bed together. Later that night, text messages from the defendant to the victim asked her to lie about his actions and questioned if she wanted him to touch her further. Following these messages, he raped her.
The next day, May 29, after being taken home by the girlfriend, the victim disclosed what happened to her mother. A subsequent examination confirmed the presence of the defendant’s DNA on swabs collected from the victim.
The Metropolitan Police Department conducted an investigation into this case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sarah Folse and Richard Kelley prosecuted it.
