The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is set to host a workshop focused on unfair or deceptive trade practices in "gender-affirming care" for minors. The event aims to explore whether consumers have been exposed to false claims regarding gender-affirming care and the potential harms they may face.
The workshop will take place on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time. It will be available online through a link provided on the event page, while in-person attendance was by invitation only and has already reached capacity.
FTC Chairman Andrew N. Ferguson and Commissioners Melissa Holyoak and Mark R. Meador are scheduled to deliver remarks at the event. Additionally, six panel discussions will feature contributions from doctors, medical ethicists, whistleblowers, detransitioners, and parents of detransitioners.
The FTC's mission is to promote competition and protect consumers through education. They emphasize that they will never demand money or make threats against individuals. Consumers can report scams or fraudulent business practices at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
