Nashville – McKenzie McClure, also known as Kalvin McClure, a 31-year-old resident of Franklin, Tennessee, was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for cyberstalking fourteen victims. This announcement came from Robert E. McGuire, Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee.
“Our office and our law enforcement partners will do whatever it takes to keep children safe from harm and hold those who would threaten our school communities accountable for their actions,” stated Acting United States Attorney Robert E. McGuire. “This prosecution, culminating in yesterday's sentence, should send a strong message that this type of conduct is intolerable in our community and will be pursued aggressively in order to keep our children protected.”
Joseph E. Carrico, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Nashville Field Office, remarked on the case: “McClure’s relentless cyberstalking disrupted many lives, incited fear, and posed significant risks to the Christ Presbyterian Academy and Christ Presbyterian Church community. As demonstrated in this case, those who target innocent lives and threaten violence will be held accountable for their actions. I hope the victims can find some closure to the nightmares they endured during McClure’s reign of harassment.”
Gregory Mays, Deputy Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security commented: "Making threats against a school is serious. This case shows how law enforcement and school leaders work together to protect students. It also reflects our strong commitment to keeping Tennesseans safe."
On March 24, 2024, just before the one-year anniversary of a mass shooting at The Covenant School—the deadliest school shooting in Tennessee history—McClure left a threatening voicemail on Christ Presbyterian Academy's main telephone line. The voicemail revealed an angry tone with references to acts of terror including mentions from the movie “Deadpool 2.” Following these events on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), she continued posting content about CPA and CPC intertwined with other violent event references.
Law enforcement took action after CPA officials discovered her identity through troubling social media activity and surveillance footage at CPA's campus. Despite being hospitalized and warned by authorities about her behavior impacting CPA's community safety perception upon discharge on April 3rd last year; however she resumed posting targeted messages until her arrest later that month.
CPA incurred over $140K enhancing security measures due directly resulting from this ordeal ensuring protection towards its administration faculty staff students families alike.
Upon completing imprisonment period supervision shall extend another three years forbidding communication among persons affiliated or associated within five miles proximity toward both academy church grounds barring express prior approval granted under U.S Probation Pretrial Services oversight regulations applied accordingly thereafter moving forward respectively.
