The American Petroleum Institute (API) has expressed approval of a new policy by the Department of the Interior aimed at increasing production on federal lands. Holly Hopkins, API Vice President of Upstream Policy, commented on the initiative: "We applaud Secretary Burgum’s action to further unleash our nation’s vast resources in support of U.S. energy dominance. We look forward to engaging with Interior to leverage new technologies to support more efficient and responsible oil and natural gas production on federal lands."
API is an organization representing various segments of the natural gas and oil industry in the United States, supporting nearly 11 million jobs. The group includes approximately 600 members involved in producing, processing, and distributing most of the nation's energy. API is also known for its Energy Excellence program, which aims to improve environmental and safety standards through technology and transparent reporting.
Founded in 1919 as a standards-setting body, API has developed over 800 standards focused on operational safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
